These glasses are medical devices:
They allow a treatment prescribed by an ophthalmologist to be delivered.
The silicone skirt is removable, so it can be taken off outside treatment periods.
- Without its skirt, the frame is a standard frame.
- With the skirt:
- It protects the eyes from external irritants.
- Keeps the tear film sufficiently moist.
- The silicone skirt:
- Is well tolerated by the skin.
- Offers very good resistance to chemical attack from medical treatments.
They have a silicone surround that keeps out draughts and a slot for a blotter pad to apply the treatment.
For the optician:
- A hydrophobic lens coating is essential.
- Adjust the skirt-to-face distance by heating (frame warmer).
